Swara Yoga Basics

This is my 2nd post on this blog, Please check my other blogs too, so as I wrote in previous post, Swara yoga is a science which is realization of cosmic consciousness through control and manipulation of breath. The Sanskrit word, swara means sound or sound of yours own breath. Yoga means union, so Swara Yoga is science which is a complete study, observations, control, union and manipulation of breath or Swara. Pranayama is only related to control of breath in various ways. In swara yoga, you will find association of breath in relation to activities of sun, moon, various seasons, physical and mental conditions of individuals etc. So Swara Yoga is more comprehensive in theory and practices related to breath.

Controlling actions according to swara:

Swara vigyan tells us how breath influences the body, the different swaras lead to different types of actions viz. mental, physical and spiritual.  When you are drinking, urinating, walking it is a physical action. When you are in a dhyan or you are meditating and praying, it is a spiritual action. When you are reading, thinking, it is a mental action. each type of action is presided over by a specific flow of the swara.

-Left Swara (Ida)- Mental action

-Right Swara (Pingala)- Physical action

-Both (Sushumna)- Spiritual action

So if your Right swara is active and you are trying to meditate, it is not gonna work. You will have some physical difficulties (because Right nostril represents physical actions). Like this if your left swara is active i.e., the Chandra nadi that means at that time you should continue the mental actions and try to stop doing any physical or spiritual work.

If you ever take the time to observe your breath you will notice that most of the time respiration takes place through one nostril only and you will find that one nostril usually remains open for a certain duration of time and the breath comes and goes through that side only. Later this nostril closes and the alternate nostril opens.

We have heard of the siddhas who could predict the upcoming events or answers the questions of the people. Actually all of this prediction and decisions were made with their control over the Swara.
Controlling swara is not a simple task and it takes a lot of practice and dedication to understand the science behind it but I have been practising swara for a long time and I can tell this with full confidence that this will change the way of your life. In the further posts I am gonna tell you each and every method that I have personally used and implemented and they really bring something new to your life. You will feel the essence of god within you. According to hindu shastras,4g4  n  Swara is the science which was told by Lord Shiva to Parvati. The two most important books that contain the great knowledge of Swara Vigyan is Swara Chintamani and Shiva Swarodaya. I have researched each books and not only this but also the books by the regular practisers who reached to the level to understand this science.
So will will discuss about swara cycles in my next posts and after you understand the basics of swara we will continue to the methods to control actions through swara.
