Tattwa (FIVE ELEMENTS)

According to Shiva Swarodaya “Creation takes place due to the tattwas (subtle essences), It is sustained by them and finally dissolves into them. O Devi, the tattwas are the origin of the Brahmanda (universe). The tattwas (elements) are the primal cause as ascertained by the exponents of the tattwas.” In a Swaras Chintamani Lord Shiva explains that “My five faces represent Tattwas and afford knowledge to the three worlds.” In Hindu Philosophy Tattwas are five elements from which whole universe is made of.   Our body is also made up of these five elements. These five elements are related to our five senses of smell, taste, hearing, touch and sight. They are also called panch(five) tattwas or panch bhootas. Upanishad tells that the five elements or pancha tattwas evolved from mind, mind from prana and prana from super consciousness. These five Tattwas are: PRITHV Ī – Earth Ā PAS – Water or Jal TEJAS – Fire V Ā YU – Air Ā K Ā SHA – Space or Ether According to Bhaga...

Cycle of Swaras

The Yogin attempts to understand, harness and bring about a balance between the energies of the two halves of the body. The best practical example of this concept is found in the study of the nasal cycle. The nasal cycle is an ultradian rhythm of nasal congestion and decongestion with a quasiperiodicity of 60 to 240 minutes. In Swara yoga, practices are connected with the flow of nadi in a systematic pattern with moon phases, Sun and other planets. According to the Shiva Swarodaya, the active nadi flows for two and a half ghati, which is equivalent to 60 minutes. Thereafter, sushumna functions for 1-4 minutes and then the other nadi begins to operate . To know the exact time when ida/pingala become active, you will need to be acquainted with the moon phases. During the first 14 days (tithis) of the lunar cycle (which extends from the new moon to the full moon), the moon waxes and becomes fuller. This is called shuklapaksha or bright fortnight: shukla means white, and paksha me...

Swara Yoga Basics

This is my 2 nd post on this blog, Please check my other blogs too, so as I wrote in previous post, Swara yoga is a science which is realization of cosmic consciousness through control and manipulation of breath. The Sanskrit word, swara means sound or sound of yours own breath. Yoga means union, so Swara Yoga is science which is a complete study, observations, control, union and manipulation of breath or Swara. Pranayama is only related to control of breath in various ways. In swara yoga, you will find association of breath in relation to activities of sun, moon, various seasons, physical and mental conditions of individuals etc. So Swara Yoga is more comprehensive in theory and practices related to breath. Controlling actions according to swara : Swara vigyan tells us how breath influences the body, the different swaras lead to different types of actions viz. mental, physical and spiritual.  When you are drinking, urinating, walking it is a physical action. When you ar...

Basics Swara-  Flow of prana and air through the nostrils. Nadi- Their are more than 72000 nadis according to Hath Yoga Pradipika, 300000 according to Prapanchsara Tantra and 320000 acording to Shiv Samhita. The important ones are Ida, Pingala and Sushumna. Prana- VItal flow of energy in nadis, mainly 5 types.                 So their are 3 nadis in which prana flows, Nadis are subtle in nature, you can not see it with your eyes or some microscope, so Prana and of course air flows in those nadis f...
